FMI CAMPIONATI INTERNAZIONALI D’ITALIA EICMA SERIES 2023
Prima di spostarci ad Arco di Trento, dove si svolgerà la seconda e ultima prova degli Internazionali d’Italia MX EICMA Series 2023, abbiamo intervistato Davide De Carli, Team Manager del team RedBull GasGas Factory Racing per farci dire le sue impressioni sui suoi piloti dopo la gara di Ponte a Egola.
Direi che il tuo esordio in qualità di team manager è stato più che positivo.
“Si, è andata benissimo, come prima gara stagionale, che peraltro noi riteniamo molto importante in vista del mondiale. I ragazzi hanno fatto una buona preparazione quest’inverno e la stanno ancora completando. Non sono al top e stiamo lavorando per raffinare gli ultimi dettagli: dalle partenze, alla moto e alla tenuta fisica, però siamo sulla buona strada. Abbiamo fatto un ottimo lavoro con le moto, il gruppo KTM ha lavorato tanto quest’inverno.”
Simon ha vinto in MX2 con due belle gare, molto intelligenti e prendendosi anche pochi rischi, un inizio promettente.
“Si, una bella gara, con Simon partiamo per il titolo, vediamo se riusciamo a stare quasi tutti i weekend sul podio per giocarcela fino alla fine. Dopo una stagione come quella passata, Simon affronterà la terza stagione di mondiale; ora ha più esperienza, ha già vinto, è salito regolarmente sul podio e si è confrontato anche con la tabella rossa. Ora è più consapevole, ha più esperienza e aver lottato approcci il campionato con un’altra mentalità. Non abbiamo potuto vedere il confronto con Geerts ma c’erano Benistant e Adamo che tra l’altro mi ha colpito molto per come sia migliorato sotto la guida di Tony e di Joel (Cairoli e Smets ndr), allenandosi in Sardegna e in Belgio.”
Mattia, quarto e migliore degli italiani ha fatto vedere ottime cose e una gran confidenza con la 450
“Anche con Mattia è andata bene, con lui abbiamo lavorato bene durante l’inverno, cercando di colmare quelle piccole lacune che erano emerse la scorsa stagione, sperando che gli alti e bassi ora siano meno frequenti e se dovesse guidare come ha fatto domenica a Ponte a Egola, dovrebbe trovarsi quasi sempre nella top five. C’è da dire che Mattia è il più giovane in MXGP quest’anno, diamogli un po’ di tempo per crescere fisicamente ma anche mentalmente, perché la MXGP non è per tutti. Aspettiamo ma sono fiducioso, lui secondo me ha grandi doti ed un ottimo potenziale, spero di vederlo regolarmente lì nelle prime cinque posizioni.”
Before heading to Arco di Trento, where the second and final round of the Internazionali d’Italia MX EICMA Series 2023 will take place, we interviewed Davide De Carli, team manager of the RedBull GasGas Factory Racing team to know more about his riders after the Ponte a Egola race.
I would say that your debut as team manager has been more than positive.
“Yes, it went very well, as the first race of the season, which we believe is very important in order to be ready for the GP season. The boys did a good preparation this winter and are still completing it. They are currently not yet at the top and we’re working to refine the final details: starts, bike and physical condition, but we’re on a good position at the moment. We have done a great job with the bikes, the KTM group has worked hard this winter.”
Simon won in MX2 with two good races, very smart, without taking any risks, a promising start.
“Yes, a good race, with Simon we’re point to the title, let’s see if we can stay on the podium almost every weekend to fight for it until the end. After a season like the past one, Simon will face the third year of the world championship; now he has more experience, he’s already won, he’s been on the podium often and he’s also used to the red plate. Now he is more aware, he has more experience and having fought he approaches the championship with a different mentality. We weren’t able to see the comparison with Geerts but there was Benistant and Adamo who impressed me a lot with how he improved under the guidance of Tony and Joel (Cairoli and Smets ed), training in Sardinia and Belgium.”

“It went well with Mattia too, we worked well with him during the winter, trying to fill those small gaps that emerged last season, hoping that the ups and downs are now less frequent and if he will ride like he did on Sunday in Ponte a Egola, he should almost always be in the top five. It must be said that Mattia is the youngest rider in MXGP this year, let’s give him some time to grow physically but also mentally, because MXGP is not for everyone. Let’s wait but I’m confident, in my opinion he has great skills and excellent potential, I hope to see him regularly there in the top five positions.”
