Arco di Trento: un po’ di storia
Domenica prossima ad Arco di Trento si terrà il secondo e ultimo round degli Internazionali MX EICMA Series 2023 che tornano in Trentino dopo 10 anni di assenza; risalgono infatti al 2012 e al 2013 le due gare degli Internazionali che furono una “prova generale” per organizzare la tappa del Campionato del Mondo FIM di Motocross. Nel 2012 fu Steven Frossard (Yamaha) a vincere in MX1, davanti a David Philippaerts (Yamaha) e Antonio Cairoli (KTM), mentre nel 2013 è Cairoli a vincere in MX1, mentre Herlings si aggiudica la classe MX2 e la Elite, ai danni del siciliano ritiratosi a causa di un contatto con un doppiato mentre era in testa.
La prima edizione del mondiale dei tempi più recenti, nel 2012 ospitò la MX3, dal 2013 invece è la MXGP a correre qui il Gran Premio del Trentino, con le sue varianti, Gran Premio del Lago di Garda e di Pietramurata, nel 2020 e 2021, quando fu una delle piste scelte per ospitare un triplo evento a causa del Covid19. Il Crossdromo del Ciclamino insediato nel comune di Dro, in Località Pietramurata, è inserito in un panorama a dir poco suggestivo, coronato da montagne e laghi nel fondo valle del Basso Sarca.
Gestito dal Moto Club Arco, associazione sportiva dilettantistica fondata nel 1934, che l’anno prossimo compirà 90 anni, è stato teatro di ben 4 Gran Premi mondiali negli anni 70/80, nelle classi 125, sidecarcross e 500, da oltre 40 anni interrotti è protagonista della storia del motocross. Su questa pista si sono sfidati i campioni di un tempo, diventati oggi i team manager dei migliori piloti del panorama mondiale, ma non è solo la storia a far parlare di Pietramurata, è soprattutto l’attualità, con un susseguirsi di appuntamenti agonistici, con le gare dei campionati internazionali, nazionali e locali. Il tracciato è un riferimento anche per le case costruttrici che scelgono di venire qui per lo sviluppo dei materiali e per molti piloti che si allenano sul circuito aperto tutto l’anno. Il microclima della zona dell’Alto Garda infatti, consente di usufruire 12 mesi all’anno della pista, nonostante si tratti della location più a nord tra i circuiti italiani di motocross. Lo sviluppo del tracciato e la particolarità del fondo conferiscono al Crossdromo del Ciclamino caratteristiche uniche e non a caso viene considerato uno dei tracciati più tecnici e maggiormente apprezzati dai piloti esperti ma che permette anche ai principianti di girare e divertirsi in totale sicurezza.
Arco di Trento: the history
The second and final round of the 2023 Internazionali MX EICMA Series will be held next Sunday in Arco di Trento, returning to Trentino after a 10-year. The two races of the Internazionali that were held here before the Grand Prix of the FIM Motocross World Championship date back to 2012 and 2013. In 2012 it was Steven Frossard (Yamaha) who won in MX1, ahead of David Philippaerts (Yamaha) and Antonio Cairoli (KTM), while in 2013 Cairoli won in MX1, while Herlings won the MX2 class and the Elite, as the Sicilian retired due to a contact with a lapped rider while he was leading.
The first edition of the MXGP world championship, in 2012 hosted the MX3, from 2013 instead it is the MXGP that runs the Trentino Grand Prix here, with ialso the Lake Garda and Pietramurata Grand Prix, in 2020 and 2021 , when it was one of the tracks chosen to host a triple event due to the pandemic. The Ciclamino track located in Pietramurata, is inserted in a suggestive landscape, crowned by mountains and lakes.
Managed by the Moto Club Arco, an amateur sports association founded in 1934, which will turn 90 next year, it was the scene of 4 Grands Prix in the 70s/80s, 125, sidecarcross and 500 classes. On this track the champions of the past, who have now become the team managers of the best riders on the world scene, challenged each other but it is not only history that makes Pietramurata talk, it is above all current events, with a lot of international, national and local championships. The track is also a reference for the manufacturers who choose to come here for the development of materials and for many riders who train on the circuit which is open all year round. The climate of the Upper Garda area allows to use the track 12 months a year, despite being the northernmost location among the Italian motocross circuits. The development of the track and the kind of soil give the Ciclamino track unique characteristics that is considered one of the most technical tracks, appreciated by expert riders but that also allows beginners to ride and have fun safely.
